As part of Athletics WA’s (AWA) commitment to providing events and services that are in accordance with the expectations of our members, the Board of AWA has approved the establishment of a Competition Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG will help guide the future of the Athletics in Western Australia.
The CAG is a voluntary group and will meet three times a year (July, August and April – dates to be confirmed) to work together with and advise AWA with recommendations for future programs, events and services across a number of areas including:
- Athlete, club, coach and officials pathways;
Innovation within the sport;
- Competition products (including timetables and scheduling of events – weekly meets, Club v Club, State relays etc); and
- Programs to assist athletes, coaches, officials and club administrators.
In its initial stages the CAG will consist of 7 representatives (excluding the Chair) from the following groups:
- Four registered AWA athletes (a mix of track and field athletes);
- Two registered Coach’s (one track and one field); and
- One registered Official.
The CAG will be chaired by Ms Louise Soia, a current AWA Board member and participating athlete.
The purpose of the CAG is to be representative of the entire AWA membership and will be formed to provide an opportunity for members to be actively involved in the management of our sport.
Initial appointments will be made by the Chair and an independent person through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process and each member of the CAG will be invited to participate for an initial term of two years.
At the end of the initial two year term, a further invitation will be made to the AWA membership for new expressions of interest for CAG representation. Casual vacancies will be filled by invitation from the CAG.
AWA now invites the WA athletics community to submit an EOI to be part of the inaugural CAG.
Expressions of interest will be open Monday, 25 June 2018 and close 5.00pm Friday 6 July 2018 (applications received after this time will not be accepted). The first meeting of the CAG is scheduled for Wednesday, 25 July at 6.30pm, the location to be advised. Please refer to the Terms of Reference for further information pertaining to the roles and responsibilities of the CAG.
Your application should include a one page detailed description of yourself and what experience you can bring to the CAG.
If you would like to be considered, please email your interest to email@example.com addressed to Louise Soia.
On behalf of AWA, we look forward to receiving many expressions of interest.
