We are pleased to announce the continuation of our partnership with the WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift organising committee, to assist in the delivery of this exciting event.
In 2018, the WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift (BGG) saw athletes from all over the country travel to the city of Bunbury to enjoy an exciting weekend of racing and share in the $78,000 prize pool.
This year, the BGG will be held on the 2-3 March giving athletes, coaches and spectators alike the chance to enjoy a long weekend in WA’s South West. The event aims to build on the success of the inaugural event and attract large fields to chase one of the biggest prize pools available in professional running in Australia.
Kiara Reddingius, winner of the 2018 BGG, Heptathlon National silver medallist and West Australian local, says the opportunity to compete for such a huge sum of money is much more than just a winning cheque, helping with travel and expenses for her heptathlon competitions.
“Professional running really sets to reward those athletes who continue to fight to improve past their previous bests. My way of thinking is take [your handicap mark] as a challenge, work hard to be competitive off that mark for your next competition. Your handicap is based on you at your best, so you should always try to exceed that, and it’s a race you really have to set for,” said Reddingius of gift racing.
With entries for the 2019 edition set to open next week, it’s time to add it to your calendar, book your stay in Bunbury and get ready for an awesome weekend on the track.
