The Douglas Memorial (DM) Shield Series continued at Strive Program D on Sunday morning with the 100m, 100mH/110mH, Triple Jump and Mixed 4x200m Relay.

Curtin lead the point score for Series 3 with 165 points for the day, thanks to some standout performances. Kiara Reddingius produced a personal best in the Women’s 100m, before returning to the track to win the 100m Hurdles and secure the double points for her club. West Track’s Larissa Walsh also earned double points in the Women’s 100m, with a solid 12.83 in a competitive field.

WA’s fastest man Aaron Bresland showed his early season form in the Men’s 100m with 10.55, pushed to the line by Melville’s Sasha Zhoya who set a new U18 State Record in 10.60. Bresland earned the maximum 50 points for Perth Track and Field Club as their Power Play athlete for Series 3.

In the Triple Jump, UWA’s Power Play athlete Grant Szalek leapt 14.09m to win the event, followed by Curtin’s Joshua Jones (13.34m) and Cockburn’s Power Play athlete Brandon Hodges (12.47m).

UWA Athletics Club lead the overall point score with a total 608 points, followed by Curtin Athletics Club on 499, Perth Track and Field Club on 391 and a tight battle brewing between West Track Athletics Club (244 points) and Cockburn Athletics Club (241).

The morning was rounded out with a Mixed 4x200m Relay, with clubs employing different tactics in the order of their male and female athletes. Aaron Bresland was set the difficult task of chasing UWA’s Alanah Yukich and Curtin’s Virginia Stasyszyn in the final leg, just falling short in a thrilling end. UWA took the victory, ahead of Curtin, Perth Track and Field and West Track.

Curtin Athletics Club            499
