2017 Australian Athletics Championships (Junior & Open)
Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, NSW
Sunday 26 March - Sunday 2 April 2017
The Australian Athletics Championships (Junior & Open) will see 3,500 athletes from across Australia compete at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre from 26 March to 2 April 2017. The program will include events for age groups from U14 to U20 and Open events. Since 2014, the Australian Junior Para-athlete Championships and the Australian Junior Athletics Championships (able-bodied) have been merged into one competition. In 2017, the competition will combine Junior and Open events. Athletes are selected to represent their state at these championships.
Athletics WA will be sending a Management Team to the Australian Athletics Championships (Team Manager, Media Manager, Relay Manager, Physiotherapist and Massage Therapist). However, all athletes will be required to book their own travel and accommodation for this event and stay with their parents, coaches, clubs or schools. Note that there will be no "State Team Accommodation" due to the difficult logistics of coordinating the junior and open competition format over the 8 days.
The following entry guidelines are applicable to all WA athletes aiming for selection for the 2017 Western Australian Team to compete at the Australian Athletics Championships.
- Online entries will open on Wednesday 25 January 2017.
- Online entries will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 5 March 2017.
- Entry will be via the Athletics WA website https://2017-aus-aths-champs-wa-entry.eventdesq.com
- No late entries will be accepted.
- Athlete levy for all athletes (Junior and Open) is $150.00.
- Entry fee is $30.00 per event.
- Athletics WA will then submit all entries and payments to Athletics Australia.
