The following dates have been confirmed for the 2019 Winter Season

  • Sunday 30 June 2019 - State Long Course Championships
  • Sunday 28 July 2019 - State Winter Walks Championships
  • Sunday 4 August 2019 - Australian Half Marathon Championships (Sunshine Coast, QLD)
  • Sunday 18 August 2019 - State Championships 5km and 10km (road)
  • Saturday 24 August 2019 - Australian Cross-Country Championships (Kembla Range, NSW)
  • Sunday 15 September 2019 - Australian Marathon Championships (Sydney, NSW)
  • Sunday 15 September 2019 - Australian Road Championships (Adelaide, SA)
  • Sunday 15 September 2019 - Australian Mountain Running Championships (Camp Mountain, QLD)



Athletes registered with Athletics WA for the 2018-19 season are already eligible to compete in the 2019 Winter Season. 

We welcome new members aged 12 years and over to become an Athletics WA Member for the 2019 Winter season for just $10. This membership entitles the athlete to compete in Athletics WA events during the 2019 Winter season. To compete at the State Long Course and/or Short Course Championships, an entry fee of $15 will be payable online or on the day. All members will be issued with a competition number that will be distributed at your first competition day. This must be worn on the front & back of your CORRECT CLUB UNIFORM.

Athletics WA can send six (6) male and six (6) female athletes to contest the 2019 Australian Half Marathon Championship.

Assistance Packages

The following assistance packages are available for a maximum of three (3) male and three (3) female athletes:

  • Free race entry to all nominated Member Associations team members.
  • Use of the Elite Athlete facilities on race day. E.g. dressing room.
  • An elite start at the front of the field.
  • One night’s twin share accommodation.
  • Allowance of $150 per athlete.
  • Ground transport to the start line (if applicable).
  • Facility access into/out of Event venue for the athlete briefing.

If you would like to represent WA at the 2019 Australian Half Marathon Championships, please email by 5pm Monday 1st July. Please include:

  • Full Name
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • Contact Email address
  • Contact Phone number
  • Recent results and personal best performances

Half Marathon Qualification Standards:
Women: 1:40:00
Men: 1:30:00

Successful applications must be registered members of AWA.

Please note that athletes who are not selected in the AWA team, however, still wish to compete, can enter using the event code ATHAUS10 to gain 10% off race entry.


Australian Cross-Country Championships

Athletes wishing to be selected to represent Athletics WA at the 2019 Australian Cross Country Championships must be registered with AWA and have competed in an AWA State Championship during the 2019 cross country season. Particular weighting will be given to the AWA Long Course State Championship conducted on 30 June 2019 at Perry Lakes. Athletes are invited to submit an expression of interest for the WA State Team to detailing their racing credentials.



Consideration will be given to regional athletes who were unable to compete either the All Schools or Athletics WA Championships. 


The Department of Sports & Recreation offers financial support for Regional athletes (only) selected in the State Team by Athletics WA. Athletes must be at least 13 years of age prior to the event. Further information is available at:
