Athletics WA has partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) to establish the Athletics WA Foundation. The Athletics WA Foundation provides the opportunity to create programs and accept philanthropic donations from community and businesses via the ASF. Donations of $2 or more are fully tax deductible. In the first instance, Athletics WA will be implementing two projects – the Athlete Travel Project and Officials Development Project.
Athlete Travel Project
This project aims to raise funds for athletes travelling nationally and internationally for the Australian Junior Championships and the Australian Athletics Championships.
The donation period will run until the 31st of January 2019, after which athletes will be awarded the funds through process of application. Applications will be considered based on national rankings, with consideration to athletes not receiving assistance through other avenues (e.g. NASS, WAIS). Further details on the application process and selection criteria will be released in the coming months.
Officials Development Project
The Officials Development Program is designed to raise funds for the ongoing professional development of officials in Western Australia. Officials wishing to complete courses not available in Western Australia or those traveling to the Australian Junior Championships and Australian Athletics Championships will be prioritised. We also aim to provide support for local development opportunities for members of the athletics community seeking to become involved with officiating.
Donations will be accepted up to the 31st of January 2019, after which officials will be awarded the funds through process of application. The application process and selection criteria will be released shortly and we anticipate the appointment of an independent panel to select successful applicants.
Please note all donations and expenditure will be audited by the ASF.
