The Emerging Athlete Program has been reviewed and Athletics WA have now developed a plan that will better suit the athletes (born in 2001 or older) through greater facility access for their strength & conditioning and recovery. This has been achieved by forming a partnership with Rugby WA. Rugby WA have offered Athletics WA world class gymnasium and recovery centre access that will provide the athletes with the greatest opportunity to succeed.
Strength & Conditioning
Access to the Rugby WA High Performance Centre will be available to the athletes on the following days and times:
- Tuesday 6:00pm to 8:30pm
- Thursday 6:00pm to 8:30pm
- Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm
The athletes during the opening times will have access to the gymnasium and the recovery centre, (the recovery centre includes an ice bath, hot water bath and a water treadmill) Athletics WA will appoint a Strength & Conditioning Coach who will be able to assist in programming for the athletes or the athletes can conduct their own Strength & Conditioning programs.
This year we will introduce Yoga classes to be held in the Fred Napier Room from 6:15pm to 7:15pm on Wednesdays. The focus of the classes will be on strengthening the core and 'prehab'.
